Norway visit

Homesick

Last week I was in Norway a few days to visit family and friends.

One of my girlfriends had anniversary
and we surprised her with a night at this hotel
which is built in good Norwegian tradition of timber and woodworkers

The Hotel is superb and the environment is fantastic !

The hotel is peaceful and homely and the food is lovely. Rooms likewise. Should you ever experience Sunnmøre and the west coast of Norway, this is a hotel you absolutely must try. I'd love to stay there again!

And it´s located near by Ålesund, my hometown :)

Autumn Love

My favorite time of year with it´s quiet mood and wonderful colors

A walk in the woods is my way of teraphy and relaxing after a long and hard week at the farm.
And what is a sunday without a good breakfast with candlelight this time of year

 Simple Definition of Autumn

-the later part of someone's life or of something's existence

"Designers want me to dress like Spring, in billowing things.

I don't feel like Spring. I feel like a warm red Autumn"

CHOCOLATECAKE

Sunday pleasure

My daughter is visiting from Norway, and she makes lots of goodies in the kitchen
and this is one of her delicious cakes.

You need :

First I would say that this is just a small part of the chocolate batter.
You have enough to a large roasting pan or several small round cakes. Do as you wish.

The cake is partly added curdled milk, which helps to give the cake a nice consistency,
in addition to a good, slightly tart taste that is well suited to the dark chocolate cream.

Locate:
450 g butter, melted and cooled
6 eggs
450 g sugar
650g plain flour
50-75 g baking cocoa
2 tablespoons real vanilla sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
4 1/2 dl cultura naturel

CHOCOLATE CREAM

150 g butter, melted
4 tablespoons espresso or strong coffee
200 g (dark) chocolate, chopped about.
250g icing sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

How to do :

Melt the butter and leave to cool. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (top and bottom heat).

Beat eggs and sugar until fluffy.
Aim flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and vanilla sugar in a bowl.
Put flour mixture in the egg mixture alternately with salt, cultura and the melted butter.
Stir until you get a smooth batter
(you may use food processor),
but do not touch more than is strictly necessary.

Line a large roasting pan
(mine is 40 × 35 cm)
with baking paper and pour the batter into it.
Bake in oven for approximately 25 minutes, until the cake is cooked through.
Check if the cake is cooked by sticking a match in the middle of the cake.
Is the match still clean when you take it up, the cake is cooked through.
Cool cake on a rack.

When the cake has cooled, you can make chocolate cream.
Melt the butter over low heat in a pan.
Remove the pan from the heat source and add the espresso
(or water if you want a milder chocolate cream)
and chopped cooking chocolate, and stir until chocolate is completely dissolved.
Stir in sifted powdered sugar and vanilla sugar and whisk
(you may use food processor)
together until you have a smooth glaze.
Add extra icing sugar if the glaze is thin.
This portion provides a moderately thick layer of icing over the cake,
but if you want a slightly thicker layer
(as I have in these pictures),
you can create double portion of chocolate cream.

I made pear puree and whipped cream as a side dish,
but you can also cover the cake with coconut sprinkle
who is a favorite among the younger guests :)

Bon Appétit

Autumn is also beautiful !

Orange tones dances in the air
Autumn is on the way at full speed, so now we get to enjoy the final moments before the autumn storms rage on this flat landscape. We have had a wonderful summer and September has started as wonderful as last year. Temperatures above 20 degrees day after day is more than amazing. Now it becomes darker and the days are getting shorter, but autumn and winter is also the time for study and dedicated time and it may be needed after a busy summer with many BnB guests.

Have a nice autumn

Lotta Pettersson på besøk hos Stall HM

Dressyrtrening

Søndag hadde Ann-Charlotte Pettersson dressyrtrening her på gården.

City VS Still Life

This was one of the challenge in the online lifestyle photography workshop I was part of in the spring
this year with Christina Greve. I really learned a lot, and it was so much fun.

I set the table home in my kitchen, and used just vintage treasure to make it look authentic and warm.
I have the pleasure to go in to my own vintageshop and find stuff that I want to use in my styling.
I have collected old and beautiful treasure as long as I can remember, and last year I organized it in the old pig stable at our farm. It suppose to be my farmshop but still it is just my own treasure chest that I pic from whenever I need something new (I mean old …) and beautiful for my photo styling ..

So I drove into the nearest city ( about 10 km from the farm) and took some picture of this beautiful city houses. Ängelholm is a nice 500 years old city ( this year) with lot of good location for photographing. It´s close to the sea so you can find beautiful places for picnic for example. And the people are nice and relaxed. It´s perfect to take the car and drive for just 10 min out of the countryside to have lunch at my favorite place called www.ostbutiken.com

So this is from Ângelholm city where I have lived for the past 8 years

The beauty of Artichoke

Artichoke is a vegetable I don´t know a lot about, but I love having them placed at the kitchen countertop because of its beautiful appearance. Don´t you agree?

The big grocery have a lots of exsotic vegetables to check out, or what ??

So the time has come for me to start explore all this beauties ..  So I began with the Artichoke!
I tried my best to prepare these beauties, from a recipe at youtube, and to be honest, the taste was not what I was expected.. or let me put it this way, They look better than they taste!

But I guess it is like so many other things in life: you must get used to it, and then you are addicted...

Conclusion at this moment:
It was not worth the bother. So much fuss for so little food that did not even taste so well actually.  No, for my part, until I have learned a better way to serve them, they are given lie on my kitchen counter to beam with its perfect looks. And I am happy anyway :)
